I have been a part of the ballroom community since 2016. Wanting to give back, I co-founded a non-profit in 2019, along with four instrumental members of the community. The MTL-KBA is all about teaching ballroom culture, while raising awareness around the various issues/struggles affecting queer/trans and/or black/people of colour youth.
I sat on the board for several years, produced and coordinated a few events/workshops, and art directed and designed our branding and identity. We wanted to encapsulate the energy of our community: energetic, fun, artistic, educational and intersectional. During my time with the MTL-KBA we partnered with notable organizations in the queer and arts communities, including Pride, MBAM, and HER.Je fais partie de la communauté des salles de bal depuis 2016. Voulant donner en retour, j'ai cofondé une organisation à but non lucratif en 2019, avec quatre membres essentiels de la communauté. Le MTL-KBA a pour mission d'enseigner la culture du bal, tout en sensibilisant aux différents enjeux/luttes touchant les jeunes queers/trans et/ou noirs/de couleur.
J'ai siégé au conseil d'administration pendant plusieurs années, produit et coordonné quelques événements/ateliers, dirigé l'art et conçu notre image de marque et notre identité. Nous voulions résumer l’énergie de notre communauté : énergique, amusante, artistique, pédagogique et intersectionnelle. Pendant mon association avec le MTL-KBA, nous avons collaboré avec des organisations notables des communautés queer et artistiques, notamment Fierté, MBAM et HER.
